Small miniature vase in fine Satsuma earthenware decorated with polychrome and gold enamels depicting battle scenes on one side, and figures in a landscape on the other. The neck, shoulder and base are decorated with geometric motifs. The vase bears a mark under the base. Japan, late 19th century.

Condition report: in good overall condition, with minor wear to the gold. The enameled decoration is very fine.
