PAIR OF RED BROCADE CURTAINS AND VALANCE WITH GILDED WOOD RAILING
Pair of curtains and valance topped by a gilded molded wood banister. The curtains are made of red brocade fabric, decorated with vases overflowing with flowers in diamond-shaped vegetal friezes. The scalloped-edged valance is in the same fabric. The banister is carved with a moving décor featuring masks of bearded men with feathered headdresses in the center and corners, and vegetal ornamentation of acanthus leaves, friezes of flowers and stripes of ovals. The curtains are attached with metal hooks, and the valance is fastened to the banister with Velcro. The curtains were custom-made to match this mid-19th-century gilded wood banister.
