Restoration period mantel screen in maple burr veneer with gilded bronze decor. The jambs are in the form of detached columns with a capital décor of palmettes and a frieze of water leaves at the foot. They are topped by a rosette. The lower crosspiece features a post frieze. The rounded pediment is adorned with a motif of florets and stretched palmettes. The central yellow-ground textile depicts a winged victory, dressed in the Antique style, on a globe with a laurel wreath and spear in her hands, and arrows piercing laurel wreaths attached to ribbon bows. The rim is adorned with gilded braid. The piece rests on four curved feet with bronze lion paws. The back is covered with a plain yellow fabric.
