













RESTORATION PERIOD FIRE SCREEN IN MAPLE BURL AND GILT BRONZE
Restoration period maple veneer mantel screen with gilded bronze decoration. The uprights are in the form of detached columns with a capital decoration of palmettes and a frieze of water leaves at the foot. They are topped by a rosette. The lower crosspiece has a frieze of posts. The rounded pediment is adorned with a motif of florets and stretched palmettes. The central textile with a yellow background depicts a winged victory, dressed in antique style, on a globe with a laurel wreath and a spear in her hands as well as arrows piercing laurel wreaths attached to ribbon bows. The rim is decorated with a gilded braid. The piece of furniture stands on four curved feet with bronze lions' paws. The back is covered with a plain yellow fabric.
