MEDITATION" BRONZE PATINA SCULPTURE BY EUGENE MARIOTON (1854-1933)

Bronze sculpture with golden-brown patina depicting an allegory of Meditation, in the guise of a young woman dressed in antique style, holding a book. She is shown standing on a rocky terrace, her head veiled and her legs crossed. Beside her, a pile of books. In this bronze, Marioton presents the image of meditation, and we find all the classic elements of this figure: the woman's age, the antique-style drapery, the bare chest, the face with regular features, calm yet concentrated, the book, symbol of knowledge. The bronze is titled on the base: "MEDITATION". Signed: "Eug. Marioton". Circa: 1880 Dim: W:20cm, D:15cm, H:55cm. In very good overall condition, with light stains and age-related wear on the bronze. Beautiful patina with golden highlights.
