ALABASTER SCULPTURE "BUST OF A YOUNG GIRL", 19TH CENTURY

Alabaster sculpture depicting a bust portrait of a smiling young girl in the style of Carrier-Belleuse (1824-1887). She wears a striped garment, the hem of which is adorned with a butterfly fluttering among flowers. The texture of her clothing is rendered with great realism. The bust rests on a stepped circular base. Circa 1880

Condition report : In good overall condition, with chips to the hair, butterfly, and flowers. Minor chips on the base. A piece of the base has been reattached and restored.
