Alabaster sculpture depicting a putto seated on a brick wall, his foot resting on a book. He is leaning over his drawing tablet, which bears the inscription: "CANOVA". Napoleon III period. In good condition. Made after a model by Charles-Gabriel Sauvage, known as Lemire: "Child Drawing", created around 1795. Along with its companion piece, "Child Reading", the two bronze statuettes after Lemire are held at the Louvre Museum.
