ALABASTER SCULPTURE OF A MYTHOLOGICAL COUPLE

Important alabaster statue of a mythological couple, signed in relief on the back "C. CIPRIANI". The young couple leans against a pilaster decorated with a masquerade. The two lovers, about to kiss, are nude with drapery in a wet-look effect clinging to their bodies. The young man, slightly elevated, rests his hand on the woman's waist as she takes him by the shoulder. Their opposite hands are clasped. At their feet are flowers and cut-out leather motifs. This is a 19th-century work. Circa 1850. Dimensions: W: 24cm, D: 23cm, H: 62cm. One thumb slightly broken, corner of the base restored.
