A pair of antique andirons in chased and gilded bronze, with a scalloped shape, decorated with acanthus leaves, foliate scrolls, an openwork egg-and-dart frieze, and balusters. This rich Rococo-style is surmounted by a winged female bust. Andirons are fireplace accessories used to support logs so they do not smother the fire. These hearth accessories are sometimes accompanied by an ash catcher and a fire screen. Our andirons were made in the second half of the 19th century. Circa: 1860
