A beautiful biscuit porcelain edition depicting a lightly dressed young woman braving the cold wind, holding a lyre in her left hand. The original work by Maximilien Louis Bourgeois (1839-1901) was entitled "The cicada that sang all summer, found itself quite destitute when the breeze came."
Maximilien Louis Bourgeois was a student of Émile Thomas at the Beaux-Arts in Paris and he exhibited at the Salon from 1863 until his death in 1901. He is known for his busts, statues and medallions.
