Rectangular jewelry box in veneered wood from the Napoleon III period. The body of the box and its slightly curved lid are finely inlaid with lozenges highlighted with light wood fillets. The colored woods, stained red and green, accentuate the relief effect. Gilded bronze trim, chased with acanthus leaves, palmettes and interlacing foliage. Friezes of pearls, oves and acanthus complete the ensemble. The interior of this Louis XVI-style box is lined with blue velvet. The box rests on four scrolled, leafy feet. Nineteenth-century jewelry boxes are among the most refined and sought-after antiques today.
