Patinated bronze sculpture of a seated child feeding a bird, after Pigalle. The original"La fille à l'oiseau et à la coquille" is a counterpart to Jean-Baptiste Pigalle's "L'enfant à la cage". The nude child is seated on the grass, with a shell on her right. A kind of gentleness emanates from the child's gaze. His innocent face exudes the joy of feeding the bird. Its counterpart, "L'enfant à la cage", depicts a naked girl with an open cage in her hand. The bird has flown away. The child looks up at the sky with saddened eyes. An image of the naivety of children, of their first pains, far removed from the sorrows of life.
