BRONZE STATUETTE "BATHER BY A RIVER", EARLY 20TH CENTURY

A bronze statuette with a nuanced brown patina depicting a bather leaning on a vase, holding back her hair. The figure incorporates the classic iconography of the theme: the nude body draped in fabric, the sinuous lines, and the position of the head. However, the artist does not sculpt the idealized body of an odalisque or nymph, but rather the sensual naturalism of a woman. Her gestures, voluptuous curves, and flowing hair exude a captivating charm. The vase on which the bather rests her arm is decorated with satyrs and nymphs in bas-relief. The bronze is presented on a later addition of a dark gray marble base. 20th century, circa 1900. Dimensions: W: 22cm, D: 22cm, H: 51cm. In very good condition.
