The bronze sculpture "Whirling Dervish" by artist Samya Baroudi represents this Sufi artistic practice that blends dance and meditation. More than just an artistic performance, it is an inner journey. The bronze appears to levitate on a metal rod resting on a bronze base. Both parts of the sculpture are signed (under the skirt and under the base).
Samya Baroudi is a Lebanese artist. She began her artistic practice at the age of 24. Over the years, she discovered the potential of drawing and painting (watercolor, oil, acrylic, etc.) before turning to sculpture (wood, bronze, glass, etc.). She quickly dedicated her work to dervishes, sculpting them in all their forms using a variety of materials (metal sheets, bronze, resin, etc.).
