Painting depicting a still life composed of grapes overflowing from a basket, two pears, a covered ceramic pot, and a vermeil coffee pot. Autumnal vine leaves contrast with the mauve hues of the grapes. Beautiful play of light. Rich giltwood frame with its label bearing the artist's name. Signed on the canvas lower left: Brunel de Neuville.
Alfred Brunel de Neuville : born in Passy on December 8, 1852 and died in Sèvres on February 5, 1942, was a French genre painter, author of still lifes and paintings of animals, notably cats.
Member of the Société des Artistes Français. He has participated in its exhibitions since 1879. Member since 1907. As every year, the offering was abundant, particularly on canvases depicting cats, for this perfectionist of still life who wonderfully renders the velvety colors of grapes and peaches.
