white Carrara marble bust depicting a veiled woman crowned with flowers. The exquisite detail of her garment and finely carved veil is typical of the late 19th-century Italian school. Her bust is decorated with daisies, lilies of the valley, and leaves, as well as a scroll. The entire piece rests on a pedestal adorned with a rose in relief. The drapery around her neck is particularly remarkable and can be compared to Giovanni Strazza's "Veiled Virgin."
Late 19th century, circa 1870
