Sumptuous column sheath in Vert de Mer marble of square section. The front face is decorated with a flaming torch, entwined with ribbons and a crown of branches of thorns in gilded and chased bronze. The gilded bronze mounts are decorated with a frieze of palmettes that run from top to bottom of the sheath. The emblems of Napoleon such as the torch, the crown and the palm can be seen. This column of Empire style rests on a square base.
