A sumptuous square-section column pedestal in Vert de Mer marble. The front is adorned with a flaming torch entwined with ribbons and a crown of thorn branches in gilt and chased bronze. Gilt bronze mounts decorated with palmette friezes punctuate the pedestal from top to bottom. These mounts feature Napoleon's emblems such as the torch, the crown, and the palm frond. This Empire-style pedestal rests on a square base. Circa 1880
