An imposing red porphyry cup from Egypt, with moldings and gadroons, is supported by three patinated bronze shell-gathering children. One of them sits on a dolphin and blows into a conch shell. The undulating background is strewn with shells and reeds. The group rests on a circular porphyry base, encircled with pearls and gilt-bronze laurel leaves. Late 18th, early 19th century.
