A fine Empire period daybed in mahogany and mahogany veneer. Straight legs flanked by scrolled brackets. The apron is straight and punctuated with applied antique bronze nails. The inverted headboard is decorated with applied bronze motifs of scrolling foliage and acanthus leaves, terminating in a dolphin's head. A slightly different model can be found in the archives of drawings by Percier and Fontaine. Circa 1810
