Writing case in the form of a leafy ormolu shuttle set on a marble base. It features four removable cups, one of which is glass decorated with a cut rosette, and four penholders. The two central lids are decorated with palmettes and topped with pine cones. The others are decorated in imitation of Gothic architecture, with three-lobed arches and granulations. This decoration is typical of the reign of Charles X. The three-legged shuttle rests on a rectangular Sienna yellow marble base with four small claw feet and a hollowed-out penholder.
