An etching depicting the symbolic 21st arrondissement of Paris , created using color etching and aquatint. Entitled " Homage to Rodin ," it represents The Kiss, the sculptor's portrait of Paolo and Francesca from the Divine Comedy, embracing and kissing for the first time, rendered in black lines against a cloudy night background. It is signed in pencil by Orfeo Tamburi (1910-1994) and published by Il Cigno in Rome between 1979 and 1981, whose stamp is located in the lower right corner of the mount. This is a limited edition of 130 copies on Pescia paper. The etching is part of the Paris 20+1 collection, which celebrates the beauty of the City of Lights.
Orfeo Tamburi is an Italian painter and engraver known for his portraits of urban life. Influenced by Cézanne, he has a passion for engraving and prints with warm chromatic tones and broad lines. In the 1960s, he was commissioned by Fortune magazine to create portraits of cities in the United States. He settled in Paris in 1971 and there he depicted the capital as it changed with the seasons. That same year, he received the Gold Medal of Cultural Merit from the Italian President.
