Group of four framed etchings byOrfeo Tamburi representing the arrondissements of Paris, etching and aquatint. They were produced by the Il Cigno art print publishing house in Rome between 1979 and 1981 for the "Paris 20+1" series. Each is signed by the artist in pencil in the lower right-hand corner. These are limited edition prints of 130. The frames are in light wood. Artist's proofs (P.A). Each print is accompanied by a booklet of text and drawings illustrating each arrondissement of Paris.
6th arrondissement - Luxembourg or some brainless, bewildering "caffe d'angolo" (corner café)
11th arrondissement - Popincourt or La République des camarades, "maison Belleville" quartier Popincourt
15th arrondissement - Grenelle Vaugirard or Chansons and aerial metro, "une rue" possibly rue du Commerce.
16th arrondissement - Passy or greenery and worldliness, "La porta verde" (the green door) Passy district

Orfeo TAMBURI (1910-1994) is known for his depictions of urban life. He developed a passion for printmaking and warmly intonated prints with broad lines. In 1971, he moved to Paris and illustrated the city from every angle. In the same year, he was awarded the Gold Medal of Italian Cultural Merit.
