A small milky white opalinebottle with a ball cap. A crown of anemones and forget-me-nots painted in gold and dark blue decorates the perimeter of the body. This floral motif is framed by gold fillets which also highlight the neck and the stopper, the latter crowned with petals. This extremely fine decoration was executed by the workshop of Jean-Baptiste Desvignes, a painter and gilder of glass, crystal and porcelain, who became famous for his technique of painting on opal crystal with gold or silver leaf and purely vegetal colours. The pieces from his workshop are characterised by the use of matte tones of dark blue and red, with a predilection for golden surfaces which dominate in the form of palmettes, florets and finely drawn garlands.
