An elegant Empire period inkwell, composed of a rectangular base in griotte red marble, adorned with gilt bronze mounts. The main decoration, of great finesse, depicts a winged figure in chased and gilt bronze holding a vase, flanked by two corolla-shaped inkwells. The front is enlivened by two felines drinking from a central fountain. The whole rests on feet shaped like feline paws. A model of remarkable quality of execution, characteristic of the refined taste of the Empire period.
Condition report: in very good condition with its original mercury gilding.
