A gilt and chased bronze writing set in the form of a shuttle , resting on a marble base. It comprises four removable compartments, one of which is glass adorned with a carved rosette, and four penholders. The two central lids are decorated with palmettes and surmounted by pine cones. The others feature a design imitating Gothic architecture with trefoil arches and highlighted with granulation. This decoration is typical of the reign of Charles X. The three-legged shuttle rests on a rectangular base of Siena yellow marble with four small claw feet and a hollowed-out penholder.
