An important bronze clock depicting a Roman warrior with a green patina. Leaning forward, he supports himself on his bent left leg, resting on a rock, and on his bow, which he holds in his left hand. Faithful to classical tradition, the sculptor represents the warrior entirely nude, wearing only a Roman helmet, draped in a garment covering his right shoulder and one leg. His bearded face, turned to the left, reveals a certain tension and pain. The rock supports the concave gilt bronze dial with Roman numerals for the hours, chased with stylized palmettes and fleur-de-lis. It rests on a naturalistic terrace raised by a tall Siena marble plinth, decorated on three sides with foliage, scrolls, and fluting. The base consists of four feet, the two front ones adorned with stylized florets, foliage, and cornucopias. Restoration period, Circa: 1820 Dim: L:41cm, D:13.5cm, H:60.5cm.
