A gilt and chased bronze inkwell depicting a dolphin supporting a shell containing a glass inkwell, an hourglass, and a concave receptacle. The whole rests on a rectangular base of burr wood and gilt bronze, decorated with a flower flanked by palmettes and chased with foliage. Some chips to the rim of the inkwell. Restoration period, circa 1820. Dimensions: L: 10cm, D: 13cm, H: 14.5cm.
