Yves Faucheur chandelier , with a free-form base in white lacquered wood and a grooved, polished copper network, featuring nine lights of varying heights supporting different-sized white opaline glass globes. Yves Faucheur (Pont-à-Mousson, 1924 – Paris, 1985) was a French painter, set designer, and costume designer active in the second half of the 20th century. Passionate about painting and drawing, he studied at the École des Beaux-Arts, then at the Académie Julian, and later under André Lhôte. He subsequently met Fernand Léger, who took him on as a student and commissioned him to work for a fee. Faucheur's introduction to the theater came through Charles Dullin, for whom he designed his first set: "Une parade" by Thomas Gueulette. He then became stage manager at the Théâtre des Noctambules and designed the sets for Boris Vian's "L'équarrissage pour tous." He moved to the Théâtre La Huchette, then to the Théâtre La Bruyère with Georges Vitaly. In the 1960s, Michel de Ré commissioned him for the Vaison-la-Romaine Festival. Incidentally, he met Jacques Fabbri, who commissioned him to design a set for Claude Santelli's "Le Fantôme" (The Phantom), and he became the resident set designer for the Fabbri Company for many years. Having created nearly 200 sets, he decided to devote himself entirely to painting in 1970. Nevertheless, he painted "Je veux voir Mioussov" (I Want to See Mioussov) for his friend Jacques Fabbri at the Théâtre des Variétés in 1975, "Tom Jones" in 1978 at the Paris Opera, "La Magouille" (The Scheme) in 1979 at the Théâtre Marigny, and "La fille de Madame Angot" (Madame Angot's Daughter) at the Grand Théâtre de Nancy in 1980. However, painting remained his primary focus, and he exhibited every two years at the Galerie Entremonde. Faucheur organized a major retrospective of his work in Vandoeuvre in 1982.
