Important corner desk in lacquered metal, aluminium, glass, and black plastic, composed of two glass tops, one round, the other rectangular, equipped with a cabinet with two drawers and shelves of various shapes, rests on three profiled feet.
Bruce Burdick (1933-2021), born and raised in California and a graduate of USC, collaborated with Charles and Ray Eames at the Eames Office, and later with the manufacturer Herman Miller to create the Burdick Group system. Our desk is the most iconic example of this system, a unique assembly of work surfaces, document management systems, storage elements, and supports for electronic equipment. These components integrate along the structural framework, regardless of the chosen configuration, to meet the needs of a wide variety of workspaces.
The system is modular, adaptable to various dimensions and configurations, and can evolve to accommodate changing work styles. In 1980, the Burdick Group system received design awards from the Institute of Business Designers and the Industrial Designers Society of America. The following year, Time Magazine named the Burdick Group system one of its "Best of 1981" in the Industrial Design category. According to Time, it was one of the first flexible office furniture systems to integrate computer workstations and other electronic office equipment.
