A beautiful biscuit porcelain group , " The Triumph of Beauty ." It depicts the goddess Venus descending from the clouds on her chariot towards bathing Nereids embracing swans. Cupids with butterfly wings offer her garlands of flowers from a basket. This scene is based on a model by Simon Louis Boizot for the Sèvres manufactory . The group rests on an oval base. A signature is visible on the rear terrace. The biscuit porcelain bears an apocryphal Sèvres mark underneath; it is likely a work from the Samson manufactory . The delicate work of the porcelain flowers and the subtle decoration in the round make this a very fine piece to add to your collection.
