A very large and majestic Empire-style double desk dating from 1875, crafted from mahogany and mahogany veneer. It comprises two pedestals, each opening with six drawers, and a central writing surface with three drawers in the front. The desk features exquisite gilt bronze mounts depicting Egyptian busts, lion's paws, winged Victories, lyres, putti, and foliate motifs (palmettes, crowns, rosettes), arranged symmetrically on all four sides. The top is upholstered in Empire green leather. This "Return from Egypt" style desk is a remarkable example of the Empire style and would add considerable character and originality to any interior. It would coordinate perfectly with our bookcase with wire mesh doors or our green leather office chair
