A two-tone, spherical incense burner. The lid, pierced with nine holes, is made of glazed stoneware with a grayish-white finish and a gilt handle. The main body is made of glazed stoneware with earth-toned veining. Made by master craftsman Katsuyoshi Kotoge (known as Tanyama), born in 1946 in Himeji, Japan. Trained by his uncle Kasai Miyagawa and Tatsuzo Shimaoka, a National Treasure of Mashiko (Japanese incense burner). He has exhibited extensively in Kyoto, Tokyo, and Osaka. Circa 2010
