A large designer bookcase by Kim Moltzer, created in the 1970s. The rectangular bookcase incorporates the geometric forms favored by the designer. It features eight smoked glass shelves within a large, silvered brass frame. The black lacquered wood base opens with three doors to reveal storage compartments. This large, high-quality piece of furniture can also serve as a room divider.
Born in Berlin, Kim Moltzer (1938-2015) was raised in Argentina before studying in Europe. In 1966, he founded ECFI, a design firm specializing in professional spaces and apartments, with architect Jean-Paul Barray. A versatile artist, he created furniture for numerous prominent French figures, including the Rothschilds and the Pompidous.
