A very large sculpted bronze vase with a polyglobular body resting on a base decorated with a Greek key frieze. The whole is adorned with chimeras, dragons, birds of prey, and phoenixes amidst a stylized motif of clouds, rocks, trees, and foliage. Meiji period, Japan, 19th century. Circa 1890.
Base diameter: 28 cm.
Condition report: The vase is composed of two elements separated at mid-height. In good overall condition with two small losses of material on the central body. Beautiful patina.
