An important rectangular console table in richly carved and gilded wood. The wide frieze is decorated with clasps, rosettes, stylized shells, and foliage. The strongly shaped uprights and feet, adorned with acanthus leaves, lambrequins, and volutes, are joined by a sturdy stretcher repeating the same decoration, and featuring in the center a grotesque, grimacing mask within a shell bordered by bursting pomegranates. This console is emblematic of Italian Baroque furniture from the mid-18th century. It has a very fine Lepanto marble top with a corbelled edge.
Condition report: In very good structural condition with some wear and occasional restoration of the gilding
