A large Louis XV style chandelier in chased and gilt bronze, with nine arms and eighteen scrolling lights. The baluster-shaped stem is openwork and richly decorated with rocaille motifs, florets, and jagged foliage, extending into nine arms formed of acanthus leaf scrolls. The candle cups are adorned with bud-shaped calyxes. With its twisted forms and rich decoration of intertwined foliage and rocaille motifs, this light fixture is a fine example of Rococo pieces made during the reign of Napoleon III. Circa 1880
