A three-panel Louis XVI style screen in lacquered and gilded wood, decorated with oil paintings on canvas depicting wading birds. Beveled glass panes are set into the upper part of the panels. The wooden frame is finely carved with motifs of acanthus leaves, flowers, and cascades of gilded ribbon. The central panel, slightly larger than the other two, is surmounted by a wreath of roses tied with a ribbon. Each panel is adorned with an animal painting on canvas depicting wading birds in their natural habitats: cranes among the reeds, flamingos surrounded by palm fronds, and herons in a landscape of irises. These exquisitely detailed scenes illustrate the taste for exoticism and a return to nature in the decorative arts of the Louis XVI style, as reinterpreted in the 19th century. The back of the panels is covered with plain green fabric.

Dimensions of the middle panel: 54cm x 154cm
