"Solstice," a "Little Albert" armchair by Ron Arad, produced by Moroso, was conceived and painted by the artist Lukas. This unique design piece features a rich painted and lacquered decoration, combining modernized motifs from the classical repertoire (acanthus leaves, columns, finials, palmettes, etc.) with abstract, flowing curves in vibrant colors. This contemporary armchair with its clean lines is entirely hand-painted, and the seat features a symmetrical design. The structure is made of reinforced polyester resin with a steel frame. This unique piece is the result of an exceptional collaboration between Galerie Atena and the artist Lukas. Year of creation: 2023
Lukas: Dialogue between tradition and modernity
Lukas is a self-taught French artist whose works have been featured in numerous solo exhibitions both nationally and internationally. According to him, "an artist's expression reflects their relationship with the world of today, but also with that of tomorrow." Thus, guided by the collective unconscious or the archetypes of Carl G. Jung, his art seems to convey a certain urgency regarding the modern world. Imbued with diverse atmospheres and cultures, he works with and relies on color and the sensations encountered throughout his life to reach a wide audience with a very simple style. In perpetual search of new experiences and connection with the world, he creates often unique works, each reflecting a moment, a particular inspiration. In 2015, he joined the design team at the Manufacture des Émaux de Longwy and conceived several series of earthenware pieces, including the Astro "City of Stars" sphere, which enjoyed immense success.
Lukas's collaboration with the Atena Gallery on "Little Albert" has therefore given rise to a unique design piece in which tradition and modernity intertwine.
