A beautiful marble sculpture by Emmanuel Villanis (1858-1914) depicting the bust of a Gypsy woman with a confident and impertinent gaze, her hair tied in a scarf and adorned with a necklace and earrings featuring medallions. Signed Villanis on the back.
Emmanuel Villanis studied at the Turin Academy of Fine Arts as a student of Odoardo Tabacchi. From 1885 he created a series of female figures linked to the great heroines of Opera and literature.
Condition report: In very good condition with very small chips at the base. A natural vein.
