A neoclassical column stand with a Corinthian capital in gilt bronze. The shaft is made of griotte red marble and the top of sea green marble. The column rests on a double stepped base, adorned with a frieze of gilt bronze acanthus leaves. The base of the column is bordered with a laurel wreath, a decorative motif common during the reign of Louis XVI. 19th century, circa 1850. Dimensions: W: 27cm, D: 27cm, H: 125cm. In very good condition, with minor chips to the base. The alternating griotte red and sea green marbles creates a striking effect.
