Important neoclassical Meissen porcelain centerpiece in biscuit , with a shaft featuring four children symbolizing the four seasons: Spring with a crown and a bouquet of flowers, Summer with a bundle of wheat, Autumn with a rich grape cluster and a basket of grapes, and Winter with a lighted torch. The theme of the Four Seasons, a traditional allegorical subject in the West since the Renaissance, was very popular in the 18th century. The four putti lean against a leafy column supporting an openwork fruit basket. The ensemble rests on a circular base with serrated edges and four Greek feet adorned with laurel garlands. Blue dot mark with two crossed swords (1763-1773) under the base. 18th century, Circa: 1770 Dim: W:30cm, D:30cm, H:53,5cm. In very good condition, with a few chips to the flowers. A scythe in the cherub's hand is missing.
