Documentation Hvidt et Mølgaard was a Copenhagen-based firm of architects and designers from 1944 to 2009. Founded by Peter Hvidt (1916-1986) and Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen (1907-1993), the company pioneered furniture design and industrial production in Denmark in the 1950s, with furniture that was easy to mass-produce and cheap to transport. France & Daverkosen is one of Denmark's iconic Mid-Century designers. However, little is known about the company's history. It was founded in Denmark around 1948 by British businessman Charles W. France and Danish cabinetmaker Éric Daverkosen. It seems that mattresses were their first priority, but in 1952 France & Daverkosen built a large furniture business in Hillerød, on the outskirts of Copenhagen. It quickly became one of Denmark's most successful furniture companies. Their signature is seating with loose cushions and light teak frames. Design period, Circa: 1955 Dim: W:190cm, D:73cm, H:55,5cm.
