Olaf Von Bohr, Valenti Edition 1968. A "Medusa" table lamp with a spiral body composed of white lacquered crushed metal strips, decreasing in size as they land on a circular black lacquered metal base. Some enamel chips. We also have a second, slightly smaller model (see photos above). Olaf Von Bohr was an Austrian designer born in Salzburg in 1927. After learning woodworking and furniture making at the Munich School of Design, he moved to Milan in 1953 and worked in Gio Ponti's studio. Olaf Von Bohr then established his own studio in 1960, and collaborated with Sergio Asti, Franco Albini, and BBPR, among others. His coat rack, presented at Kartell in 1975, was selected for the permanent collection of MoMA. His Isis chair, presented at Kartell, was voted Chair of the Year at the International Furniture Competition in 1997. Olaf von Bohr actively designs works in numerous fields. The Medusa lamp, which he created in 1968 for Valenti Luce in Italy, is an icon of modern design. With its sinuous and sculptural form, it is a beautiful example of 1960s European spatial design. This incredible Italian lamp will be a true centerpiece in any type of interior. It can be used as a floor lamp or a table lamp. Design era, Circa: 1968. Dimensions: W: 36cm, D: 36cm, H: 64cm.
