soundboard zither . The handle is made of turned, blackened wood. The soundhole is decorated with a wreath of oak leaves. A double-lined design is engraved around the front of the instrument. Tablature is indicated at the bottom of the instrument. The Operia Konzert-Harfe is present inside the soundbox and stamped on the upper left side. The instrument was made in Germany at the end of the 19th century. Originating in China more than 2000 years ago, it can be placed on a music stand. The musician plucks the strings with one hand and varies the pitch with the other, creating vibrato and other tonal effects.
