A pair of two-light biscuit porcelain candlesticks in the Sèvres style . Each candlestick is adorned with a young Cupid on clouds, holding a garland of flowers. These child figures evoke the famous " Falconet Children ," made in Sèvres in the second half of the 18th century after François Boucher. These figurines enjoyed great success during the 18th century and well beyond their creation, and Sèvres sold a large number of them. The "children" genre thus symbolized a significant portion of the Manufacture's sculpted production and remained highly sought after by a clientele fond of models inspired by the famous painter. Our Cupids rest on a circular base scattered with petals and edged with interlacing patterns. The candle arms are delicately carved with foliate and twisted motifs. An apocryphal Sèvres mark is impressed on the underside of the base.
