A pair of decorative bronze ewers with two patinas in the Renaissance style. The handles are in the form of busts of nude women wearing diadems emerging from acanthus leaves and terminating in a lion's head. The body is decorated with mascarons, a cartouche, cut-leather motifs, and floral garlands. The neck is adorned with friezes of egg-and-dart, acanthus leaves, and gadroons. The foot features gadroons and acanthus leaves. The whole rests on a square base. This late 19th-century work is reminiscent of the pieces by Victor Paillard (1805-1886).
Circa: 1890
Condition report: Wear consistent with age and patina.
