An important pair of openwork baskets in white hard-paste porcelain with gold decoration. The flared, circular body features a regular openwork design with ogival motifs, enhanced by a gold band around the entire rim. A molded band of raised palmettes encircles the base of the openwork section. Each basket rests on a fully gilded, bulbous foot mounted on a square base outlined with white bands and adorned on each side with a biscuit porcelain mascaron framed by pine cones, molded in high relief. The precise design of the openwork, the fineness of the gilding, and the quality of the porcelain suggest provenance from a renowned Parisian manufactory, circa 1805-1815. A metal disc at the bottom of each basket may indicate original mounting for display or securing.
Condition: Very good overall condition, gilding well preserved with minimal wear, slight signs of use on the bases.
