A very fine pair of patinated and gilt bronze candelabra from the Restoration period. Each candelabra features a winged angel in patinated bronze resting on a sphere, holding a torch from which three arms of light emerge. The gilt bronze sockets are finely chased with scales. The side arms, adorned with small flowers and scrolled foliage, are arranged symmetrically around the central third arm, decorated with stylized plant motifs. The whole rests on a vase-shaped base embellished with the same scale and palmette decoration, and a square patinated bronze plinth.
A pair of three-light gilt and patinated bronze candelabra. Each candelabra features a putto figure in the round, sculpted in patinated bronze. The putto, with its sinuous lines, rests on a sphere, arm raised. He is crowned with a wreath of flowers from which three light arms extend. The gilt bronze arms are finely chased with scrolling foliage and other foliate motifs. A decorative torchère surmounts the composition, symbolizing Fidelity. The entire piece rests on a cylindrical gilt bronze base decorated with a rouletted pattern reminiscent of small scales.
