A pair of large patinated bronze candelabra mounted as lamps. Two pensive young ephebes, lightly draped in lion skins, one playing a flute and the other lost in thought, lean against a stylized tree decorated with flowers. The upper part of the trunk terminates in an oil lamp. The palmette-adorned base is supported by four feet that curve upwards. A blend of naturalistic and classical (Greco-Roman) motifs typical of this period in the mid-19th century. Louis-Philippe period, circa 1840. Dimensions: W: 19cm, D: 16cm, H: 75cm.
