A beautiful pair of three-light gilt bronze wall sconces in the Louis XV style. The sconces are finely sculpted and chased with acanthus leaves and scrolling foliage. This rich and dynamic decoration is typical of the Rococo style, which flourished in France during the reign of Louis XV and greatly influenced the decorative arts under Napoleon III. This pair of sconces is unique in that one is adorned with a squirrel and the other with a heron. Circa 1900
